Elizabeth Lewis: Quite a pair!

by Elizabeth Lewis on June 4, 2010

In two delightful sessions, licensing law updates and a license were reviewed.  The first session was presented by Jeff Dodd.  The second session was presented by Jeff Dodd and Ray Nimmer.  First, I have to say that the two of them make quite a pair.  They worked so well together that it kept me awake and kept the audience engaged.  With that being said, they were the best sessions I have attended so far.

In the drafting licensing agreements section, they went through a license pointing out the good and bad parts of the license.  It helped enforce the best practices for writing licenses.  Probably the most interesting, and funniest, point in the two sessions was making sure you know what the term means before you use it.  To show this point, a case where a Japanese word was used was highlighted where it appears that neither party really understood what the term meant!

On the agenda today is a panel on Legal Risks of Social Media, Ownership of Jointly Developed IP, Cloud Computer Risks, Risk Allocation, and Social Media Policies.
